Thank you for your interest in authoring a HelpDesk Answer (HDA), for publication in Evidence-Based Practice. Below is an abbreviated list of topics, known as our "Editor's Picks"
EBP's Editor-in-Chief has hand selected them as those he thinks would be best-suited for authors new to the HDA process.
What IS Evidence-Based Practice ? What is an HDA ?
Please review these guidelines before requesting your question:
1. You may select up to two (2) questions at a time.
2. We encourage faculty mentor/co-authors to have written one or two HDAs themselves before working with residents/students.
3. Residents/students can request their own question, but should have a faculty mentor/co-author arranged :

Faculty co-authors should take on the responsibility of seeing that the manuscript is in "print ready" format when submitted - expect some feedback and suggested revisions.

Residents/students can be listed as first author on the final publication.

Faculty mentors should be copied in on all e-mail correspondence regarding the manuscript and its edits/revisions.
4. Timelines - please communicate clearly with the EBP Project Manager as to what kind of timeframe you will be able to follow through with. With research, authoring and revisions, the HDA process should typically take no more than 6-8 weeks (5-10 hours).

A request e-mail will go to the EBP Project Manager, and you will be notified via e-mail with a response and an "OK" to proceed. Do not begin researching or writing until you receive confirmation from the Project Manager.
Before searching or writing, authors should read the HDA authoring guidelines and sign and fax in a copy of the author disclosure formto (573) 256-2078. We are requested by our CME accrediting body to keep these on file for all our contributors.
