Your Program’s Scholarly Activity Plan for the Coming Academic Year

It is that time of year again for FPIN membership renewals.  Are you trying to figure out how you will complete the new PIF sections for faculty and residents documenting their active roles in scholarship?  FPIN is dedicated to helping family medicine residencies meet their RRC scholarly activity requirements through our structured research and publication program.  Since the beginning of the year we’ve been pleased to welcome 9 new programs into our network, who will all be part of FPIN's "Class of 2007."

We work with our members to integrate accessible and proven scholarly activity into their respective programs to engage both faculty and residents in clinical scholarship.  With our publications (PEPID PCP, Evidence-Based Practice , and Clinical Inquiries) and a 95% publication rate, we can help add value to what your faculty and residents are already doing.  We have further streamlined our resources and tools this year to help make your group’s publication experience more rewarding.

Now is the time to get moving on your 2007-2008 plans with FPIN!

If you have any questions or concerns regarding your new membership, our scholarly activity program for residencies, or the renewal process, please contact Heather Stewart, heather@fpin.org.

We are looking forward to working with you this coming year!

Getting your Program More Involved with Scholarly Activity

Virtually all of FPIN’s member residencies and departments have enjoyed the benefit of a structured track to publication.  Regardless of where your program is in regard to scholarly activity, we can help make it easier, more rewarding and more accessible to your group.  What does the end product look like?  Our three primary publications, PEPID PCP, Evidence-Based Practice and the Clinical Inquiries.  Read about getting your group started here

FPIN can truly help you enhance what your faculty and residents already need to be doing in regard to scholarly activity

“Instead of…having one or two faculty who have special EBM expertise, the authors and resident co-authors represent a much broader group,” says Nancy Stevens, MD, Program Director of the University of Washington’s WWAMI Family Medicine Network.  “FPIN opportunities have brought evidence-based writing and practice into the daily life of our residencies. Writing using evidence is an excellent way to keep faculty and residents appropriately critical of what they read.”

Do you know another program that could benefit from joining FPIN?   Other programs just like yours are looking for ways to enhance scholarship and meet the new RRC requirements – you can help them by sharing your experiences and showing your colleagues how FPIN has enhanced your program and increased scholarly activity.  The FPIN staff can follow up with an array of membership materials that we are happy to share.  Refer a program to FPIN and your own program can receive special offers towards FPIN membership.
Membership materials are also found on the front page of
 www.fpin.org in the “Membership” box.
If you would like any additional information please contact the Membership Coordinator, Heather Stewart at
