eMedRef Overview

eMedRef writing projects offer the opportunity to contribute to a growing resource of evidence-based topic reviews for use at the point of care.  Designed to develop evidence-based medicine skills, eMedRef is perfect for those wanting to get started writing with FPIN.  eMedRef authors search the available literature for the most recent and highest quality evidence and guidelines.  Authors then synthesize the information into a concise review for other clinicians.  Throughout the writing process, eMedRef authors receive guidance from mentors, editors, and the project manager.

After editorial review, completed eMedRef topics are published in PEPID Primary Care Plus.  Excerpts from selected eMedRef topics are also published in Evidence-Based Practice, a monthly journal produced by the Family Physicians Inquiries Network (FPIN) and distributed to more than 4,000 physicians and libraries worldwide.

What is PEPID Primary Care Plus?  PEPID PCP covers some 2,700 disease topics, some 7,500 drugs, has a drug interactions calculator and multiple other tools. It is designed to provide family physicians and other primary care providers with all of the information they need on a handheld (Palm or Pocket PC) for point of care use in clinic, in the emergency department, on labor and delivery or in the hospital.
