Getting Involved with PURLs
The PURLS system was developed in a collaborative partnership of the Family Physicians Inquiries Network (FPIN) and The Journal of Family Practice.

PURL Nominator
Choose three or more journals to monitor upon publication, or a surveillance system (BMJ, InfoPOEMs, DynaMed)

  1. Identify a Potential PURL article/summary within 24 hours of publication
  2. Send an email to purlnomination@fpin.org:
    1. Send each nomination separately
    2. Subject Line: PURL Nomination and a short title
    3. Include copy or link to abstract/summary
    4. Actively participate in nomination discussion

Time Commitment: 3 hours per month

 

PURL Reviewer

  1. Become a part of the Potential PURL Schedule
  2. Assignments will be made with a due date approx. 7-14 days out
  3. Complete the Potential PURL Review Form (PPRF) according to the instructions
  4. Present at a PURL Jam

Requirements: 4-6 reviews annually
Time Commitments: 2-3 hours per review

 

PURL Peer Reviewer

  1. Notify project manager with topic interest
  2. Assignments will be made with a due date approx. 30 days out
  3. Assignments will be have 3-5 days for completion after documents are received
Time Commitments: 1-2 hours per review
