To sign-up to write an HDA and see the question list, click on the link below. Please note these 3 important steps in the sign-up process:
- Make sure your FPIN profile is current. Correct FPIN profile data ensures you and your program receive recognition at publication. Also, your email address in this profile is used to deliver the electronic copy of EBP monthly. Update your profile by logging in to the FPIN website, once there your profile will pull up and you can click on "edit profile" on the right.
- Select a question from the drop-down list. Questions change frequently, so copying the list may result in frustration. The question may be gone when you return to complete your sign-up. Please see the paragraphs below if you wish to submit your own HDA question. Please note: the first draft due date is 60 days from the date you sign up!!
- Be sure to complete the sign-up process. You will receive a confirmation email when the sign-up is complete. Save this email; it contains your question number and the question wording that you should put in the subject line when emailing to your HDA Project Manager.

You may submit your own HDA questions for approval
The FPIN question approval process takes about 2 weeks. The Editors-in-Chiefs (EBP, JFP, Clinical Inquiries) and the FPIN Librarian review each question submitted, to ensure it is appropriate for HDAs, unique to our system, and worded for reader interest. Before submitting your question, please work with your faculty co-author to do the following:
- Conduct a brief search to ensure ample evidence is available. If a CI has been published on the topic, please be aware that it will not be approved for an HDA.
- Try drafting a short evidence-based answers to your question.
- Prepare 2 or 3 versions of your question to maximize approval.
- Fill out the Question Submission Form.
Please do not begin to write on your question until you receive an approval email with an FPIN number for your question.
