What does Addie do for FPIN?

As Managing Editor of FPIN’s peer-reviewed journal, Evidence-Based Practice, I oversee everything from manuscript submissions to the production of each issue. I also work closely with FPIN’s Editorial Team and project managers to continuously improve the quality of our content and publication.

When I am not copyediting manuscripts or planning for the journal, you can find me corresponding with authors and editors within FPIN’s Clinical Inquiries project. As CI Project Manager, I work with our members to help them be as successful as they can be with their scholarly work. I also serve as board secretary where I am responsible for maintaining our bylaws and keeping minutes for the organization.

Background

Prior to joining FPIN, I spent the early years of my career as a journalist for various community newspapers and publications. I developed my writing and editing skills by working on different beats including crime, politics, military news, the environment and also health and wellness. As a strong communicator and includer, I enjoy the art of effectively disseminating criticial information and value team-based approaches to problem solving.

Born and raised in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, I moved to the United States at the age of 19 and received my bachelor’s degree in news-editorial journalism from the University of Colorado Boulder. Go Buffs!

Hobbies

I love cooking and always trying new cuisines or new restaurants. I also enjoy being active like taking my dog on a hike or to the park, working out at the gym or being outside when the weather is nice. If you don’t find me in the kitchen or outdoors, I am most probably catching up on one of the many tv series I watch.

Unique Skills

I am able to operate a manual car despite only having owned automatic vehicles. I also actually really enjoy spicy and trying different types of cuisine!

Fun Facts

I’ve lived in four different states in the U.S. and also briefly in northern Thailand. Sawadeeka!

What do you love most about FPIN?

I love having the opportunity to be a part of an organization with people that are incredibly passionate about the cause and work they do each day. It is inspiring to work with such an elite team of educators in primary care in this country and to have such an active role in advancing the discipline overall. Since being a part of the FPIN staff, I’ve greatly valued the teamwork, professional development, and networking opportunities available to our team.

Favorite Netflix series or movie and why?

I have enjoyed watching a docu-series called Chef’s Table. Since I love spending time in the kitchen, it’s been very interesting to learn more about some of the world’s top chefs and what makes them so successful and unique! I am also an avid fan of the Stranger Things franchise and any of Anthony Bourdain’s travel shows.
