What is it about the FPIN mission that had you want to participate in the organization?

An understanding of how to critically review new evidence and apply biostatistics is a vital skill for every physician. FPIN is making a concerted effort to help organizations build a culture of critical appraisal so that these skills become second nature for faculty and residents. I saw this growth in my own residency where discussing the strength of a recommendation and quality of the underlying evidence was integrated into lectures, precepting and shared decision making with our patients.

What goals do you have for your respective FPIN project?

The growth of the HDA into a very popular scholarly activity for residents was fueled in part by the compact timeline from question selection to publication. This expansion has lengthened the timeline and I look forward to increasing the project’s capacity to meet the demand while still maintaining high standards.

What is your philosophy as an editor?

I want to ensure the authors select the best evidence and translate that into an answer which our readers can efficiently apply to their clinical practice.
